Austin Awaits: Wellness Travel Favorites

Hot, hot, hot. We love Austin. With swimming holes, boating, delicious fresh food, and a low key mentality this may just be one of our favorite cities to visit.

Eats

Bouldin Creek Cafe: All the food here is made fresh to order and can be modified for any dietary restrictions. As salad freaks, our favorite section is the Big Azz Salads. Wash it down with a ginger whoopie pie. Whoop!

Juiceland: This Texas chain is everywhere in Austin and we're glad. From acai bowls, to fresh made smoothies and juices, refreshment is just a quick stop away. They also give 10% off for cyclists! Don't forget your helmet.

Fresa's: We love the variety of healthy, locally-inspired Mexican at Fresa's. Super fresh, and super tasty, with a specialty in wood-grilled menu items. Try the fan favorite wood-grilled wings.

Picnik: The butter coffee is incredible. Plus, you can have a hearty healthy meal here knowing the quality of the ingredients can't be beat. Their menu is also 100% gluten, soy, corn and peanut free!

Indoor Fitness + Wellness

MOD Fitness: Rave reviews are common for MOD which delivers some killer barre workouts AND mom-friendly programming. Plus their studios are so pretty they motivate us get our booty moving.

Lake Austin Spa Resort: No surprise here. It's been named the 6th best wellness retreat in the world by Conde Nast Traveler. Their spa day packages are a great way to staycation or catch up with a friend.

LOVE Cycling Studio: Indoor cycling is still a go-to workout. LOVE incorporates weights + choreography and offers a 60-minute Extra Love ride for those days where your energy is uncapped.

Ro Fitness: Get competitive on the indoor rower and get the best of all worlds. Classes are taught (weather permitting) on the deck overlooking the river. What's more inspiring than that?

Knockout Austin: Kickboxing is a serious sweat-sesh and we love the intensity at Knockout. Get your heart rate up in the atmospheric studio and leave knowing you left it all on the bag.

Outdoor Fitness

Barton Creek Greenbelt: From swimming to hiking to rock climbing, the 12+ miles of trails here are well-known by Austin locals. If you're visiting, a morning hike or jog is a great way to get acquainted.

Lady Bird Lake: Close to downtown this reservoir is picturesque and an excellent option for running or biking. If you're looking for a water activity, give paddle-boarding a shot. Some Austin trivia: it's illegal to swim in the lake due to water quality and safety, so be cool and follow the rules.

Lake Travis: A smidge out of the city, but this lake is heaven for boaters and swimmers. There are numerous rental locations around the lake to do watersports and we couldn't think of a better place to spend a sunny Saturday.
