We love connecting with studio owners from across the country. We've been lucky enough to chat with The Works and The Works Cycle founders in Charleston to learn more about what motivates and how to get in a sweat everyday!

The Works A Sweat Studio by Sarah Frick
Β
1.You founded The Works Studio. What was your motivation to start it?Β
I haveΒ been in the yoga and fitness industry for 16 yearsΒ and wanted more than just a fitness experience.Β My life had changed.Β I had changed.Β I had grown.Β I had experienced loss. From that, The Works Method started to bud and to take life.

This practice I createdβ€”The Works Methodβ€”is extremely physical. The class combines heat, vinyasa yoga flow, cardio, core, sculpt, body strength work, meditation, and oh-so-much heart work...all taught to a bumping playlist. Imagine you're in a packed room and everyone is moving and breathing and sweating and not only are you being physically pushed but, at the same time, you’re being mentally stimulated to dissipate the excess and move through the roadblocks that you keep coming up against.

2. What is The Works mission?Β
Soulful fitness. Fitness gets people in the room and then the real work begins. TO share our stories is not only to heal ourselves, but others. As we heal, the world heals. It's a continuumΒ that starts with us.Β Β
3. What classes can you take at The Works? And what if I don't live in Charleston?Β Β
Below are the classes offered at TheΒ Works Sweat Studio. In addition to our in studio classes, these are all offered on our The Works Streaming app!Β
Β
THE WORKSΒ
The Works is a dynamic blend of powerful vinyasa yoga, meditation, plyometrics, cardio, and core used to tap into our breath and our strength. We use the body work to get to the heart workβ€”where we can find real connection body to body, heart to heart, and soul to soul. This class is heated 90 degrees seasonally as needed.Β
Β
THE HOT VINYASAΒ
This class is designed for all who want to flow, twist, sweat, and build a smart core-centered body. The Vinyasa is a blend of sequencing curated to build heat while physically and mentally challenging mind and body, without the extra cardio or jumping.
Β
THE SWEAT EXPRESS
The Sweat Express is 45 minutes of ALL HIIT circuits (typically 50% strength and 50% cardio). Each HIIT movement will be held on your mat and equipment is provided. This class can be modified for all levels and will rock your body. We promise.
Β
THE DEEP STRETCH
The Deep is a slower paced yoga flow that opens with meditation and breathwork and builds to challenge the body and mind through intentional movement, longer holds, seated postures, and hip opening. The Deep blends deep stretch and yin yoga to target connective tissue and fascia to improve joint mobility, increase circulation, and release tight and sore muscles, all while allowing space for full physical and mental release.
Β
THE SCULPT VINYASA
This class is designed for all who want to SCULPT, flow, twist, sweat, and build a smart core-centered body. The sculpt is a blend of repetitive sequencing curated to build heat while physically and mentally challenging mind and body, without the extra cardio or jumping. Lots of smart sequencing and all that sculpt love to hate!
Β
THE MASH UP
The Mash Up is a dynamic blend of powerful vinyasa yoga, meditation, plyometrics, cardio with incorporating weighted strength training used to tap into our breath and our strength. We use the body work to get to the heart workβ€”where we can find real connection body to body, heart to heart, and soul to soul.

4. What events are coming up?
Upcoming events include our handstand workshop, Soulful Fitness retreat in Tulum, Mexico, Bear Shadow Music Festival and Fall 2022 Teacher Training. In addition to these events, we will be hosting charity classes as part of our larger mission, #theworksgivesback.
Β
5. Any advice on sweating everyday?Β
Whether it is 5 minutes or a class, don't let time be a reason not to move your body. When we move our body we get out of our head (future/anxiety), out of our guilt (past/shame), and into our lung space (breath), which is the most beautiful, present moment. It makes you feel good!Β
Β
6. #myrecess is a super challenging sweaty The Works Cycle or The Works Sweat Studio class with loud music, tears, laughter and a space where I can feel it all with a collective community.Β

Moment with Carter Foxworth, The Works Cycle

1. What was the motivation, drive or goal to start The Works Cycle?Β Β
After helping Sarah Frick, my partner in The Works Cycle and founder of The Works A Sweat Studio, our sister yoga studio, develop the brand for The Works A Sweat Studio I knew there was more to this movement. We wanted to expand the soulful fitness into another area of fitness that complimentsΒ the yoga classes and I have alwaysΒ been a huge fan of spin. After a few chats in 2020 we knew The Works Cycle was our next move!

2. What is The Works Cycle mission?Β
The Works Cycle aims to get people out of their heads and into their body throughΒ movement and heart work. We ride to the beat of the music to focus on so much more than just the physical. The work we do in the room empowers us to do better outside the room for our world and our community. It's so much more than a sweat.Β
Β
3. What classes can you take at The Works Cycle? And what if I don't live in Charleston?Β
At The Works Cycle we offer The Ride 45 and The Ride 60. Our signature Ride 45 is our most popular class.Β We ride to the rhythm and spin with soul. It’s more than fitness - it’s heart work - it’s getting out of your head and into your body. When you lock it in, let the music lead you. Forget the metrics, it’s about mindfulness - make it big, make it yours, make it count. If you do not live in Charleston, we currently are not offering any classes online, but our sister studio, The Works A Sweat Studio has a streaming app!
Β
4. What events are coming up?Β
At The Works Cycle we just offered a 411 classΒ to dive deeper into the method and the practice. In addition to our RECESS ride, we host charity rides as part of our larger mission, #theworksgivesback. Our charity rides are donation based to raise money for causes that are near and dear to our hearts. We will be hosting a charity ride in March for the American Cancer Society.

5. Any advice on sweating everyday?Β
For me, sweating is how I clear my mind to set myself up for success in my day. Whether that's a spin class, a yoga class or just a walk outside, movement is life! I must sweat toΒ feel my best. It's all about getting out of my head and into my body to see where I can really find my power!Β
Β
6.Β  #myrecess is hitting The Works A Sweat Studio for a Sculpt Vinyasa class with my partner in crime, Sarah Frick, followed by leading The Ride 45 at The Works Cycle. Nothing balances me out more than a room full of 40 people all working towards a common goal. We really are all more alike than we are different.
